Weekly Update!

Is everyone ready for another exciting week of the I.B. Program? :D Leave any additions as a comment, and we'll work to add them to the post.

I (this is Seth now) would like to apologize for not posting a weekly update last week. I'm not sure how many people were affected, but I promise never to do that again (thank you Autumn for updating BC Calculus in my color last week).

Helie here. Just wanted to let everyone know that we're going to try to organize items on the Weekly Updates in terms of level. So Pre-IB/Honors will be at the top, followed by AP, and IB will at the bottom of each day's agenda. We hope this helps everyone stay organized!

This week's agenda:

Monday -
  • EVERYONE will be going to alpha homeroom first thing in the morning, and ALL sophomores will be going to the auditorium during alpha homeroom as a "practice" for Tuesday.
  • IB World Geography (Mr. Sutton) - We will be continuing the presentation of our population geography projects. Be prepared to give a five minute max oral presentation.
  • AP Human Geography (Mr. Sutton) The project on a Sub-Saharan African country is due today. You should have a poster with population pyramids, maps, and a three-paged, double-spaced paper. Refer to the handout for full requirements.
  • AP English Language and Composition (Ms. Harvilchuck) - You should have about one page of information on participial phrases printed out and ready to be turned in.
  • AP European History (Mr. Bullington) - There is an in-class essay based on "The Shattering" from A World Lit Only By Fire.
  • AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The homework from Sections 3.4 to 3.10 will be due.
  • AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - The lab on titration will be due. Be sure to follow the IB rubric.
  • Pre-IB Chemistry (Ms. Smith) - There is a test on molar quantities.
Tuesday -
  • ALL sophomores will be missing first, second, and third periods (and possibly the beginning of fourth period/A lunch) to take the PLAN (practice ACT) test.
  • AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - The microscopy lab is due today. Make sure you have six sketches, all labeled with field of view, magnification, and structures identified. Remember that this is a purpose lab; no hypothesis is required.
Wednesday -
  • IB World Geography (Mr. Sutton) - We will be continuing the presentation of our population geography projects. Be prepared to give a five minute max oral presentation.
  • AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - We will be having an AP-style test on Chapter 3 from the Calculus book. As per standard, it will be 15 multiple-choice questions and 2 free response questions. It will be graded on the AP scale.
  • AP English Language and Composition (Ms. Harvilchuck) - You should be able to recite the auxiliary (helping) verbs to the class today.
  • Pre IB Biology (Mr. Robinson) - We are turning in the cell functions/organelle worksheet
Thursday -
  • IB World Geography (Mr. Sutton) - We will be continuing the presentation of our population geography projects. Be prepared to give a five minute max oral presentation.
  • AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The review on Polynomials will be due.
  • AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - The worksheet/"quiz" on redox reactions that we started on Wednesday will be due.

Juniors should dress appropriately, as should the IB Student Life Committee, as we will be introduced to the program at that time.
  • IB Spanish III (Sr. Alemañy) - We will be having a quiz on the vocabulary from Capítulo 2.
  • IB World Geography (Mr. Sutton) - We will be having a test on Population Geography. To prepare, study your typed notes, as well as the vocabulary if you wrote any of it down. The test will be purely written responses, save for a matching section on the vocabulary.

  • AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - Calculator labs #1, 2, and 4 will be due if you want them graded and given back before the 10 October due date.
