APEH (Jones) Quiz

Hey, guys. Just wanted to remind everyone that there will be a quiz on chapter 30 from Western Experience tomorrow for Mr. Jones' class. He forgot to tell third period, but hopefully everyone gets the news.

We will also be having a test on Tuesday, May the fifth. I'll post the chapters here as soon as he tells us. The test covers everything after WWI: the Russian Revolution, Interwar period, WWII, and the Cold War. Good luck, everyone!

Weekly Update!

I hope everyone had a great Spring Break, but unfortunately (or fortunately depending on the person) it's time to begin school yet again.

This week's agenda:

Monday -

  • AP Human Geography (Mr. Sutton) - Bring in the three topics that have interested you the most that have been covered in class, with recent news articles and your written responses on why you are so interested in the topics.
  • IB Theatre I (Mrs. Brooks) - The research investigation will be due. Remember that the SL word limit is 1500-1750, while the HL word limit is 2000-2500. Even though this is a rough draft, it will be the ONLY draft, so try to do extremely well, as it will count 25% of your final IB Theatre grade (from 1-7). Remember as well that if it is late for ANY reason, your grade will be counted off 50%.

Tuesday -

  • IB World Geography (Mr. Sutton) - There will presumably be a notebook check. Vocabulary required, in addition to that required from last semester, will be Chapters 6, 10, 12, and 13. You also need to find three topics that have interested you the most that have been covered in class, find a recent news article and write a response for each about why you are interested in that specific topic. To clarify, you need three topics covered by three articles accompanied by three responses.
  • AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - We will begin a full-length practice AP exam, beginning with non-calculator multiple choice.

Wednesday -

  • AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - We will continue the practice AP exam with calculator multiple choice. Remember to round to three decimal places if necessary.
  • AP U.S. History (Mr. Rose) - We will be having a quiz that is impossible to study for. This serves simply as a reminder to stay in "testing mindset", I suppose.
  • AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - The outline for Chapter 20 of the textbook will be due.

Thursday -

  • AP English Literature and Composition (Mr. Murray) - 20 notecards will be due for World Literature Paper I for those going on the Chem field trip on Friday. Notecards are only required to have the quotes on them.
  • AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - We will continue the practice AP exam with calculator free response. Remember to round to three decimal places if necessary.
  • AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - There will be a free-response test. Everyone should be prepared to answer one of five prompts:
  • 2000 Ques. 4
  • 2002 Ques. 2
  • 2002 B Ques. 4
  • 2003 Ques. 3
  • 2005 B Ques. 1 - A scoring guideline for this prompt is available at the official College Board site: http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/ap/students/biology/ap05_sg_biology_b.pdf
Friday - ALL JUNIORS IN CHEMISTRY WILL BE GOING TO UWF FOR THE LAB FIELD TRIP. LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED.
  • AP English Literature and Composition (Mr. Murray) - 20 notecards will be due for World Literature Paper I. Notecards are only required to have the quotes on them.
  • AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - We will end the practice AP exam with non-calculator free response. Also, calculator lab #14 will be due. Remember that this will be the first and only draft, and it WILL affect the AP portion of your nine weeks grade.

AP Chemistry: Thermodynamics Guide

This is a guide I created in preparation for APChem's Chapter 19 test on Thermodynamics, but I forgot to upload it in time. I present it here for future generations:

Spring Break!

It's finally here! A glorious 9 days we have completely to ourselves...well, not quite. There are a couple things you should remember to save time for over the break -

AP English Lang. and Comp. (Ms. Harvilchuck) - Complete the worksheet that was passed out on Friday about Sentence Structure.

AP Human Geography (Mr. Sutton) - For three topics that have interested you the most that have been covered in class, find a recent news article and write a response for each about why you are interested in that specific topic. To clarify, you need three topics covered by three articles accompanied by three responses.

AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - There will be a free-response test the Thursday after Spring Break. Students going to State Science Fair will take this test ahead of time.
Also, remember to do some preliminary research for the animal behavior design lab. It is an individual lab where you must find a way to design an experiment that will produce enough data (must be quantified) and test the behavior of pill bugs (roly-poly). You alone are responsible for coming up with a research problem, keeping the environment controlled, and testing appropriate variables. If you can, bring in some pill bugs (LIVE!) in time for the lab.

Pre-IB Spanish II (Señora Martelli) - The project on Federico García Lorca will be due after Spring Break. This was previously due yesterday, and the substitute may have forgotten to inform certain classes of this change. As usual, there are many options, such as working with Lorca's poems, writing a research paper, making videos, etc. Remember that the gypsies of Southern Spain were an important factor in his life, which makes them a possible topic for a project.

Señora Martelli has been unable to come to school because of falling on her back last Friday -- some of her discs ruptured and she was unable to get out of bed this week.
