This week's agenda:

Monday -

• AP English Language and Composition (Ms. Harvilchuck) - There will be a test today on everything we've covered so far. Be sure to know the aims of the course, the grading policies, the rationale for the notebook set-up, the literary aspects discussed in the epigraphs, the themes literary aspects, and rhymes of the Frost poem, the relationship between Frye's essay and Yeats' poem, the image systems in "The Rocking-Horse Winner", the grammar we cover in class, vocabulary (both sheets, unless she doesn't return the first in time), and know how to talk about literary aspects in relation to their meaning.

Tuesday -

• AP European History (Mr. Jones) - There will be a test on sections 8-15 in Palmer and Colton, chapters 13, 14, and section 1 of chapter 15. Also, there may be questions from the lecture notes.
• Pre-IB Chemistry (Ms. Nagel) - There is a test today on chapter three. There will be multiple-choice, matching, fill-in-the-blank, a chart, and math questions. Be sure to know the five points of Dalton's atomic theory.
• AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - The Catalysis lab is due today. There are many requirements; please refer to the sheet she gave us at the beginning of the year and anything you may have copied from what she said class.
  
• IB TOK (Mrs. Brooks and Mrs. Benson) - Journal Entries (all eight of them) are due today.
• IB French IV (Mrs. May) - Vocab lists from that imperative exercise are due today, and the "Conseils" oral is today as well--have five affirmative statements of advice and five "what not to do" statements, from your partner-chosen topic.

Wednesday -

• Pre-IB Chemistry (Ms. Nagel) - All science fair paperwork as specified on the handout is due today. If it is not in today, you may not get to do the project you want to, as many need to be approved by the school district.
• AP Human Geography (Mr. Sutton) - It has been hinted that there will by a "pop" quiz today. Look over your notes; be prepared.
• Algebra II Honors (Mr. Bobbitt) - There is a review quiz today on all of the chapters that have been covered.
  
• Spanish II (Sra. Martelli) - There is a quiz today on vocabulary. Memorize ten vocabulary words from the section "Antonyms and Synonyms" on the packet.
  
• IB Pre-Calculus (Li) - There is a test on Chapter 3 - Polynomial and Rational Functions. Be sure to review the examples from class.
  

Thursday -

• AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The review on Graphing and Transformations (#5) is due today. There will be a test on Oct. 1, heads up.
  
• IB French IV (Mrs. May) - Vocabulary and Grammar (the imperative) test today.
• AP Statistics (Ms. Li) - The take-home quiz is due today.
  

Friday -

• Spanish II (Sra. Martelli) - Memorize ten more vocabulary words from the section "Antonyms and Synonyms" on the packet. Make sure they are different from the ones you used on Wednesday.
• Spanish II (Sr. Alemañy) - There is a quiz.
  
• AP European History (Mr. Jones) - There is a quiz on the map. Make sure to know all the countries, their capitals, and their locations!
  
• AP European History (Mr. Bullington) - There is a test on the English Reformation and parts of the Catholic Reformation.
• IB World Geography (Mr. Sutton) - Presentations are due today.
• AP Chemistry (Ms. Smith) - There is a quiz on chapter five.
• AP U.S. History (Mr. Rose) - Test on chapters 10-11.
• AP Calculus AB (Ms. Paedae) - Test corrections are due today.
• Pre-IB Chemistry (Ms. Nagel) - The density lab is due today.
  

Mr. Jones' European History Quiz

The quiz on the European countries and their capitals is, as you should know, on Friday. Many of us have not yet memorized the capitals and their locations, so I have found several useful sites to remedy that. (Juniors and seniors--if you, by chance, still have a good website that's not on here, please leave it in the comments!)

• For this one, you have to click "next question" each time you answer correctly, but I think this may be the best overall.

• This one is a little annoying--it says the names of the countries and there's no way to mute it. Also, you do not have to register to use it. Just click "Maybe Later".

• This one is good, but it only does ten at a time, and if you do more than one session, it tends to repeat a little.

Oh, and thanks to Jennie for recommending the second site and motivating me to find some more! :)

ALSO: Jemimah has recommended another site. It's good for reference and a little review if you don't want to play an entire game. It shows the country and capital when you hover over that section of the map.

IB French IV

Here's a simple guide for the sudden French test tomorrow. We don't normally do guides in foreign language because of the character and accent complications, but this one was mostly vocab so I tackled it.

I probably won't be doing another one. This was not fun to make. And as you can see, the accents were very much ruined by scribd (they should not be capitalized or accent grave, that's some default character). But I hope you get what use you can, seniors.

Midterms come out this week. Hope everyone does well!

This week's agenda:

Monday -

• IB World Geography (Mr. Sutton) - We will be having a quiz on the climate map. Be sure to study the various climate zones and key cities.
  
• IB Theatre I (Mrs. Brooks) - The journal entry on Commedia dell'Arte will be due. Be sure to mention all of the activities that we did, including but not limited to the exaggerated movements, the research papers, the video in class, the character status exercise with the cards, etc.
• AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The homework for Sections 2.3 through the rest of Chapter 2 will be due. We will also almost surely be having a quiz on related rates. Be sure to study up on these types of problems, as well as implicit differentiation in general.
• AP U.S. History (Mr. Rose) - The first 31 questions in the Chapters 6-9 packet will be due as a quiz grade. Remember that all quiz grades for the quarter will be averaged as a test grade.
  
• AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - The homework for Section 5.2 will be "due for discussion". Interpret that as you wish, but since nothing was done with the Section 5.1 homework, it's unclear as to what will happen with this section.
• AP English Language and Composition (Ms. Harvilchuck) - The first thirty prepositions should be memorized.
• French II (Mme. May) - There is a test on chapter one today.
  
• Pre-IB Chemistry (Ms. Nagel) - The questions from page 89 are due today. Also, for some classes, she will be checking the homework that was due Friday.
• AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - The Catalysis pre-lab will be due today.
• AP European History (Mr. Jones) - The study questions for section 15 (Palmer and Colton) will be due today.

• Pre-IB Chemistry (Ms. Smith) - We are having a test on significant digits as well as metric conversions. Look over the review sheet from class on Friday.
• AP European History (Mr. Bullington) - Remember to complete the homework on the Protestant Reformation in complete sentences.

Tuesday -

• Pre IB Spanish I (Sra. Martelli) - Test on body and school items vocab plus a little bit of masculine/feminine pronouns.
• AP U.S. History (Mr. Rose) - The second 31 questions in the Chapters 6-9 packet will be due as a quiz grade. Remember that all quiz grades for the quarter will be averaged as a test grade.
• AP European History (Mr. Jones) - There will be a quiz on the summer reading today.
• Pre-IB Spanish II (Sra. Martelli) - There is a test on Los Dos Reyes y Los Dos Laberintos as well as Jorge Luis Borges. Review any notes you may have taken on the test.
• IB TOK (Mrs. Brooks) - Journal Entry: "How issues of perception can affect a specific area of knowledge" due today. It is suggested that personal experience or reading be implemented.

Wednesday -

• AP World History (Mr. Rose) - We are going to do our Chapter 3 test.
• AP U.S. History (Mr. Rose) - We will be taking the multiple choice part of the test on Chapters 6-9. Be sure to study by reading the chapters and reviewing the question packet.
• IB Biology III (Ms. Bidwell) - Test today? Unconfirmed.
• IB Theatre II (Mrs. Brooks) - Two-page (double-spaced) background paper on your folktale tribe. Must include descriptions of culture, native dress (male and female), color of clothing, and one drawing of costume design based on research. Paper should include four outside sources, cited internally (with parentheticals) and in a bibliography.

Thursday -

• AP World History (Mr. Rose) - He will start checking notebooks randomly, so make sure yours is in order. The order is: In front pocket, important papers, like the syllabus, essay tips, etc. Next is a section fro the lecture notes, then a section for study questions and responses, (remember on your inquiry questions that you highlight your thesis), last is a maps and charts section.
• AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The review on Logarithms will be due. We will also be having a test on Chapter 2. You can prepare, of course, by studying your notes and doing the homework. The test will be 15 multiple-choice questions and two free-response questions. No calculators will be allowed.
  
• AP U.S. History (Mr. Rose) - We will be taking the DBQ part of the test on Chapters 6-9. This will not be a full DBQ, but a "mini-DBQ".
  
• AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - The precipitation lab will be due. Be sure to follow the IB Rubric.
• AP European History (Mr. Jones) - There will be at test on chapters 13-15 in The Western Experience, sections 8-15 in Palmer and Colton, and any notes.

• IB Chemistry III (Mrs. Nagel) - Environmental Chemistry Review Questions due, completed, this morning. Review will continue based on the answers to this sheet.

Friday -

• AP European History (Mr. Bullington) - There is a test on the New Monarchies and the Protestant Reformation.
• IB History of the Americas (Mr. Bullington) - Test on the early part of WWI, the race for allies, and American causes of entrance to the war; plus anecdotes, as will be noted.
• IB Chemistry III (Mrs. Nagel) - Environmental Chemistry test today. It will be similar to last week's test, including definitions, lists, formulas, and explanations of gas and pollutant chemistry.
• IB Spanish III (Sr. Alemañy) - We will be having a test on Capítulo 1. You can study by looking over your notes and the chapter in the textbook.
• IB Theatre I (Mrs. Brooks) - Be sure to bring your Commedia dell'Arte notes for an in-class test, where you will write an essay of sorts regarding how Moliere took what he learned from a Commedia troupe and applied it to his play, The Miser.
  
• AP English Literature and Composition (Mr. Murray) - We will be having a test over Vocabulary Units 1-3. You can study by looking over your old quizzes.
