Weekly Update!

Another week has passed. It won't be too long before midterms come out!

This week's agenda:

Monday -
  • IB Theatre I (Mrs. Brooks) - The research paper on your chosen topic in Commedia dell'Arte will be due. Keep in mind that it must be one to two pages, typed, double spaced, with a bibliography (with four or more book/Internet sources). We will also be doing an oral presentation on your chosen topic.
  • AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - Homework from Sections 1 and 2 in Chapter 2 of the Calculus book will be due.
  • Drama I (Mrs. Brooks) - We will be going over our group skits today.
  • AP World History (Mr. Rose) - Chapter 3 notes will be due.
  • AP European History (Mr. Bullington) - Classes were to read "The New Monarchies" section in Chapter Two of the Palmer & Colton textbook.
  • Pre-IB Chemistry I (Ms. Nagel) - There will be a quiz on all of the math in chapter two. Also, the safety lab is due.
  • Algebra II (Mr. Bobbitt) - There will be a quiz on chapter three.

Tuesday -
  • TONIGHT IS OPEN HOUSE!
  • IB Theatre I (Mrs. Brooks) - We will be continuing the oral presentations on Commedia dell'Arte.
  • IB Pre-Calculus (Ms. Li) - The test that was postponed on Friday will be today. Also, homework will be due.
  • Algebra II (Mr. Bobbitt) - There will be a test today.
  • Drama I (Mrs. Brooks) - We are doing our group skits and possibly our pantomimes.
  • Pre IB Biology I (Mr. Robinson) - Chapter 3 review due.
Wednesday -
  • Pre-IB Chemistry I (Ms. Nagel) - There will be a test on chapter two today.
  • AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - We will be doing a lab on precipitation. Please prepare by wearing appropriate lab clothing.
  • IB Chemistry III (Mrs. Nagel) - There will be a comprehensive test on environmental chemistry.
  • IB Theory of Knowledge (Mrs. Benson/Mrs. Brooks) - Presentations on the Ways of Knowing continue.
  • NHS Members: RECYCLING STARTS TODAY! Check Mrs. Benson's room for your assignments.
Thursday -
  • AP English Literature and Composition (Mr. Murray) - We will be writing an essay in class on the rhetorical strategies that Elizabeth Bishop employs in her poem, "The Fish". In addition, the worksheets on "Symbolism and Tone" and "Assonance and Denotation/Connotation" will be due.
  • AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - The review on Exponents will be due.
  • Geometry Honors (Mr. Naes) - Chapter 2 Test.
  • Pre-IB Biology I (Mr. Robinson) - Test on Chapter 2.
  • IB English III (Mrs. Benson) - All current English journals due. (List on Mrs. Benson's board)
  • IB Chemistry III (Mrs. Nagel) - The Acid Precipitation lab is due today.
Friday -
  • ALL JUNIORS - CAS books, including the reflective essay, will be due in English. Be sure to have them ready!
  • IB Spanish III (Sr. Alemañy) - We will have a quiz on the vocabulary from Capítulo 1, which can be found in your book. It will be the same format as the last vocabulary quiz: 25 words written in Spanish and English.
  • IB World Geography (Mr. Sutton) - We will be having a quiz on population geography. To prepare, be sure to study all of your notes on the subject.
  • AP English Literature and Composition (Mr. Murray) - We will have a quiz on the vocabulary from Unit 3 assigned on Monday. Keep in mind that all vocabulary quizzes are cumulative, so expect to see a few Unit 1 and Unit 2 words splashed in randomly. We will also be having a scene analysis quiz on Oedipus Rex (or as Mr. Murray calls it, Oedipus the King).
  • Pre-IB Spanish II (Sr. Alemañy) - There will be a quiz on the vocabulary from page 40.
  • Pre-IB French II (Mme. May) - There will be a test on chapter one today.
  • AP Human Geography (Mr. Sutton) - There is a quiz on population geography. Be sure to review your notes, the relevant information in the chapter, and the maps.
  • AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - We are having a free-response essay question on metabolism. The four prompts to choose from will be related to either energy, ATP and work, enzymes, and/or metabolic pathways.
  • Pre-IB Chemistry I (Ms. Smith) - The density labs are due today.
  • Pre IB English I (Mr. Murray) - There is a "quest" today so make sure and study before Friday!

History of the Americas Study Guide

Please Note: The test is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 8, but some classes may be testing on Tuesday due to the Senior Assembly. Please refer to your specific class for dates.

And don't forget the Gringo essay due Monday as well!

This week's agenda:

Monday - LABOR DAY HOLIDAY (NO SCHOOL)

Tuesday -
  • ALL Sophomores have an assembly to attend third period. It will be held in the auditorium.
  • IB World Geography (Mr. Sutton) - The articles on the five themes of geography will be due.
  • AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - Homework from Chapter 1 of the Calculus book will be due.
  • AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - The worksheet that was given to us on Friday regarding the reactions will be due.
  • Pre-IB Biology I (Mr. Robinson) - We will be finishing up the in-class project and turn in or go over our worksheets, sections 1-3.
  • AP Human Geography (Mr. Sutton) - The articles on the five themes of geography are due today. Be sure as always to review your notes from class.
  • Pre-IB Chemistry I (Ms. Nagel) - Questions 16-21 from page 59 are due today.
Wednesday -
  • AP U.S. History (Mr. Rose) - We will have a test on Chapters 1-5. You can prepare obviously be reading the chapters, studying your notes, and of course studying the pre-test answers. Remember to bring your pre-test question packet to class because you will be giving it back to Mr. Rose.
  • AP World History (Mr. Rose) - We have a test on Chapters 1-2. Prepare by reading the chapters, obviously. Also, the Technology Chart for Mesopotamia is due.
  • AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - The model lab is due today.
  • Pre-IB Chemistry I (Ms. Nagel) - The penny lab is due today. Make sure all your tables are formatted correctly and have the proper information.
  • Pre-IB Spanish I (Sra. Martelli) - We will be going over pages 3 and 4 that we did for homework.
Thursday -
  • ALL juniors have an assembly to attend fifth period. It will be held in the auditorium.
  • AP Calculus BC (Mr. Bobbitt) - We will have a test on Chapter 1 of the Calculus book. The review on Sequences and Series will also be due. Juniors, keep in mind that we will be called out of fifth period to attend the assembly, so you will be responsible for letting Mr. Bobbitt know when you're going to make up the test, be it Thursday afternoon, Friday morning, Friday afternoon, etc.
  • Doing Honest Work in College (All History Classes) - Along with a re-signing of the IB Honor Code, everyone will be taking a short multiple-choice quiz on pages 3-48 of the previously mentioned book.
  • Pre-IB Chemistry I (Ms. Smith) - There is a safety quiz that you must get an A on to do labs. To study, review the safety lab and the review sheet. Be prepared for the practical section.
  • Pre-IB Spanish II (Sra. Martelli) - We are having a quiz on the differences between SER and ESTAR. Review your notes.
  • Pre IB Spanish I (Sra. Martelli) - We will be having a test on telling time.
Friday -
  • IB Pre-Calculus (Ms. Li) - THIS TEST HAS BEEN MOVED TO TUESDAY. Homework is due then as well.
  • AP Biology (Ms. Bidwell) - We will have a test on all of the material covered so far. Be sure to review the notes you have taken, the worksheets, and your quiz.
  • AP English Literature and Composition (Mr. Murray) - We will have a quiz on vocabulary that was given out on Tuesday by the substitute. Keep in mind that vocabulary quizzes are cumulative, so be sure to review last week's vocabulary as well.
  • AP Chemistry (Mrs. Smith) - We will have a test on Chapters 3 and 4 of the textbook. You can prepare by doing the homework and practice problems. Homework will also be due at the beginning of class.
  • AP European History (Mr. Bullington) - We are having a test on the Renaissance, including Manchester's dragons, the PRAISE model, and concepts covered during lectures. Remember to carefully read over sections 5-7 in your Palmer & Colton (9th edition).
  • Pre IB Biology I (Mr. Robinson) - We will have a test on Chapter 2 of the textbook.
  • Drama I (Mrs. Brooks) - We are doing our pantomime scene today.

Hey, freshmen!
